Objectives:To investigate the effect on the patients with bronchial asthma by inhalation of inactivated-mycobacterium phlei. Methods : The lung ventilation function , airway reactivity and CD45RA,CD45RO expressions on CD4+ T cell in peripheral blood and were detected in normal group. 23 subjects with mild to moderate persistent asthma and dust mite allergy were randomly divided into hormone treated group (normally treated) and atomization group (nebulization group). Both groups were treated with 50 / 100μg Salmeterol Xinafimte and Fluticasone Propionate twice daily for 30 days and nebulization of 3.44μg inactivated-mycobacterium phlei once a day for 5 days respectively. At the 1st, 6th, 31th days, the percentage of CD45RA and CD45RO in both peripheral blood and induced sputum was detected by flow cytometry. Meanwhile, the therapeutic efficacy was assessed by lung ventilation fuction, airway responsiveness, asthma control test(ACT), classes of asthma control and the adverse effects.Results:(1) During one month, complaint was controlled even cured in all samples . The lung ventilation function, airway hyperreactivity were obviously improved. But the scores of ACT,the lung ventilation function and airway hyperreactivity improvement were no difference between the two groups(20.36±5.75VS20.42±4.78,p<0.05). (2) In peripheral blood, CD45RA expressions on CD4+ T cell tendences to upgrade in all samples .But it has no statistics significanc(eF=1.618,p=0.21). CD45RO expressions on CD4+ T cell has an degression tendency, difference has statistics significance(F=12.18,p=0.000). CD45RA and CD45RO expression on CD4+ T cell were no difference between the two groups.Conclusions:(1)The CD45RA and CD45RO expressions on on CD4+ T cell in peripheral blood ,which correlated negatively with allergic asthmatic subjects, but it still needs more well-designed studies to be confirmed. (2) The increased expression of CD45RA and CD45RO expressions on on CD4+ T cell in peripheral blood may be adjusted by nebulization of inactivated-mycobacterium phlei, this may be one of the mechanisms of controlling asthma by inhaled inactivated-mycobacterium phlei.(3) Nebulization of inactivated-mycobacterium phlei can decrease airway responsiveness and improve lung ventilation function in asthmatic sufferers, then can control asthma partially or even completely.
