| Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of panipenem/betamipron (PAPM/BP) in the treatment of urosepsis. Methods Retrospective study of the application of panipenem-betamipron for 24 urological patients with urosepsis in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital from Oct 2008 to Oct 2009. The diagnosis of urosepsis was according to the diagnostic criteria of《2009 Chinese diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases Guide》. All patients were treated with PAPM/BP as the sole antibiotic agent. Patients were given PAPM/BP at a total daily dosage range from 1 to 1.5 g. The clinical efficacy and bacteriological efficacy were assessed according to《2007 Chinese clinical trials of antibiotics guiding principles》Results The clinical efficacy rate, expressed as a percentage of the total number of good responses, was 95.8%(23 patients). The eradication rate, expressed as a percentage of the total number of "eradicated" and "replaced" efficacies, was 91.7%. Abnormal laboratory findings with abnormal LDH occurred in 1 patients. No serious adverse effects were observed. Conclusions PAPM/BP was effective and safe for urosepsis. |
