Skin-sparing Mastectomy And Immediate Breast Reconstruction For Breast Cancer

ObjectiveTo investigate the methods and significance of skin-sparing mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap with a silicone prosthesis for early breast carcinoma.MethodsFrom March 2008 to December 2009,patients rerceived skin sparing mastectomy(or nipple-areolar complex preserving mastectomy) plus axillary lymph node dissection and immediate breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap(or latissimus dorsi flap) with a silicone prosthesis.ResultsThis method achieved satisfactory aesthetic outcome.Majority of reconstucted breasts were symmetrical and soft with fine contour.ConclusionImmediate breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap with a silicone prosthesis after skin sparing mastectomy is an effective method for early breast carcinoma,and good results can be obtainde in skin sensation,incision scar,breast shape and symmetry. It can improve figure and avoid psychosocial handicap from breast depetion and deformity.This method is worth spreading and applying.
