Background and ObjectiveDiscusses the Effects of metformin on fatty degeneration into triglyceride content of myoblasts cells with steatosis.Materials and methodsNeonatal Wistar rats obtained skeletal muscle for primary cell culture, with palm-itic acid into the muscle cells induced by fatty degeneration model, which is steatosis, in the control group and model group, then, with different concentrations of metfor-min, training in different groups, using oil red O staining changes in intracellular lipid droplets, and test the detection of intracellular TG content.ResultsThe quantity of steatosis cells in palmitic acid-function group was much more than that of normal one. And the TG content of former was significantly increased (P<0.01), while after the use of metformin in post-palmitic acid, the steatosis of palmitic acid-function group decreased, with intracellular TG content decreased significantly (P <0.01), too.ConclusionMetformin significantly reduced triglycerides content in the muscle cells, and promote lipid metabolism in the muscle cells, inhibits the formation of steatosis, with significant lipid-lowering effect.
