Study On The Chemical Constituents Of Callicarpa Pedunculata

Callicarpa pedunculata R. Brown is an important medicinal plant of genus Callicarpa, which is widely distribution in the Southern part of China. It has been used for the treatment of hemorrhage, and as an anti inflammatory and antibacterial drug.The dried and powdered leaves and stem of Callicarpa pedunculata were extracted three times with methanol under reflux. Removal of solvents under vaccum. Extract was chromatography over silica gel. The elutes were collected as fractions. The fractions eluted were combined according to the TLC and further purified by chromatography over Sephadex LH-20, Reverse phase C-18 silica gel and recrystalization to yield two compounds. They were identified by spectral analysis (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy) which is'H-NMR Spectroscopy and 13C-NMR Spectroscopy to afford the two compounds. One Flavonoid and one triterpenoid were isolated from the MeOH extract of Callicarpa pedunculata. The structures were established as 5,7-dihydroxy-4'-methoxy-flavone and 2a,3β,19α-trihydroxy-urs-12-ene-28-oic acid.
