| Objective:The ratio of the mandible and zygomatic arch plays a decisive role on face type. This study aims to analyze the relativity between them by measuring mandible and zygomatic arch of certain health adults, expecting to calculate the indexes of mandible and zygomatic arch of the living body by measuring the breadth between bilateral angles of mandible directly and simply. It provides more evidence of the relativity between human facial skeleton bones and reference materials for cosmetic surgery and other medical fields. It has important clinical meanings in the plastics, forensic medicine and artificial implant production.Methods:Thirty-eight healthy males and females in all, nineteen volunteers each sex, who are between twenty to thirty years old and everyone of them is well-formed features, no prosopo-soft tissue and skeletal deformity, no history of oral cavity rectification. Scanning each volunteer's head in normal intercuspal position condition with spiral CT (pitch 2.5mm). Sending the scanning data to the CT workstation, and then by which obtaining three-dimensional reconstruction to the cranial bones. Measuring reconstructed mandible and zygomatic date and analyzing the data with statistic software called SPSS 11.0.Results:The results show that bilateral angle of mandible is: 101.39±4.98mm, bilateral condylus mandibulae:130.51±6.63mm, depth of symphysis mandibulae:75.36±4.75mm, height of symphysis mandibulae:34.91±3.28mm, mandible height:33.43±3.19mm, mandibile length:35.11±2.37mm, width of mandible ramus:62.04±4.64mm, height of mandible ramus:77.97±4.63mm, depth of zygomatic:12.38±1.35mm, length of zygomatic arch:39.48±2.39mm, thickness of zygomatic: 5.40±0.48mm in nineteen male volunteers and bilateral angle of mandible: 91.19±7.45mm, bilateral condylus mandibulae:124.00±6.45mm, depth of symphysis mandibulae:69.19±4.70mm, height of symphysis mandibulae: 31.99±2.59mm, mandible height:30.96±2.30mm, mandibile length: 33.78±3.63mm, width of mandible ramus:57.58±2.59mm, height of mandible ramus:71.83±4.70mm, depth of zygomatic:10.17±1.40mm, length of zygomatic arch:36.64±2.46mm, thickness of zygomatic: 4.82±0.78mm in nineteen female volunteers.Conclusions:It is of certain reference significance calculating the depth and length of zygomatic arch and various indexes of mandible and zygomatic arch by measuring the breadth between bilateral angles of mandible directly and simply for the evaluation and forecasting of effects before and after operation in cosmetic and plastic surgery. The regression equations calculating the depth, length and thickness of zygomatic arch according to the breadth between bilateral angles of mandible suit the prediction of various indexes of mandible and maxillofacial bones of Chinese people. |
