ObjectivesThe aim of us was to assess quality of life in renal transplant patients and identified socio-demographic and clinical variables which influence it.MethodsAll renal transplant patients are from Shanxi Province Renal Transplant Center. we handed the self-administrated questionnaires to the patients. In addition to the SF-36, the survey also included the questions on general and clinical data. The analysis and Evaluation of SF-36 concluded that the quality of life in renal transplant patients can be reflected by the measurement results. The quality of life of renal transplant patients was assessed. The quality of life of renal transplant patients was compared with general population in Sichuan province. The quality of life in living donor renal transplant patients was compared with it in cadaveric donor renal transplant patients. Single factor analysis and multivariate regression analysis were applied to determine the effect of a lot of explanatory variables such as age, gender, education level, marital status, work status after surgery, payment method and fee payment, income level, time after surgery, preoperative duration of dialysis, primary disease species, rejection and so forth on quality of life.T test, variance analysis, correlation analysis, single factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were used. All statistical analyses were carried out using SPSS 13.0 for windows.Results196 cases of renal transplant patients completed the questionnaire. The analysis showed that the SF-36 can be used in the survey of quality of life in renal transplant patients. The scores of the eight scales in the sampled patients were 81.30±10.56, 67.72±45.3,71.35±15.50,44.46±31.27,55.80±14.62,86.25±12.04,63.53±35.21 and 59.60±15.77. Expect SF and RE, the scores of all the scales in the patients were significantly lower than those in general population. The scores of BP and RE in Living donor renal transplant patients were significantly lower than those in cadaveric donor renal transplant patients. In the single factor analysis, age, gender education level, marital status, work status after surgery, payment method and fee payment, income level, time after surgery, preoperative duration of dialysis, primary disease species and rejection were included. In the multiple regression analysis of total score the three variables of age, working status and a month of medical expenses at their own expense were included.ConclusionsExpect SF and RE, the scores of all the scales in the patients were significantly lower than those in general population. The scores of BP and RE in Living donor renal transplant patients were significantly lower than those in cadaveric donor renal transplant patients. Quality of life in renal transplant patients is affected by many factors. In order to comprehensively improve the quality of life of patients, we should focus on many aspects of the quality of life in renal transplant patients.
