ObjectiveTo summarize the curative effect and clinical experience of the auricular reconstruction of microtia with autologous costal cartilage and titanium mesh.To discuss the prostecdtive efficacy of the ear growth condition by this method. And dicide the clinical application prospect of titanium mesh as the framwork to keep cranioaural angle.MethodTo retrospect and analyse the information about the clinical data and follow up data about post-op almost 4-5 monthes sourcing from 6 patients with microtia who got the operation from June 2009 to January 2010. Six patients got the reconstruction with autologous costal cartilages+ titanium mesh framworks. Survey the blood circulation of skin flap, outer ear-morph and cranioaural angle etc. In order to evaluate the effect of this improved surgical treatment for microtia.ResultFollow up all patients about 4-5 monthes.We found that no patient had obvious post aur skin contracture,ear backward-shift retraction, cranioaural angle backward folding, and deformations of cavitas conchae etc. anatomic structure after theâ…¡period operation.the pinna shape are lifelike.All the patients are satisfied with the surgery.the reconstructed ear are recognizable anatomic structure including helix, antihelix, tragus, antitragus,cavity of auricular concha,cymba of auricular concha,triangular fossa and scapha.they got three-dimensional structure,good cranioaural angle and can withstand the cranial daily pressures.ConclusionThe auricular reconstruction of microtia is a delicate surgery.lt can be effected by many factors:enough skin cover, exquisite ear framwork, fine structure and postoperative treatment which will affect the final result of the surgery. Autologous costal cartilage and titanium mesh framwork auricular reconstruction of microtia is a reliable treatment. This method is improved form the most traditional,classic, widely used auricular reconstruction of microtia,and provides new ideas to create more lifelike cranioaural angle.
