Forces are the basis of orthodontic treatment, how the size of force and force caused by the stress distribution in periodontal situation, has been the Orthodontists'concern in clinical. Ability to obtain accurate values of the size of periodontal credible stress distribution will reduce the risk of clinical treatment for the efficient and convenient orthodontic treatment and provides a good foundation. The purpose of this study is to design a three-dimensional orthodontic force measuring device, combined with three-finite element analysis to establish a periodontal stress analysis system. Methods:Part I: Based on the principle of mechanic, a three-dimensional measuring device was created by three-dimensional space mechanics and theoretical study of higher institutionsPart II: based on CT data, the high-precision three-dimensional finite element model of maxillary dentition, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and Edgewise appliance were set up by reverse engineering software.Part III: through measuring device measuring the periodontal stress finite element analysis. At the same time, computer-assisted dental cast will be digitized by the rapid prototyping technology to generate original malocclusion model, electronic speckle shearing interferometry was used to test the results. Three-dimensional measuring devices, finite element model and finite element analysis made up of the periodontal stress analysis system.Results:Three-dimensional mechanical measuring device was designed. Three-dimensional finite element model of maxillary dentition, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and Edgewise appliances were set up by reverse engineering software. Through finite element analysis and electronic speckle shearing interferometry to conduct a preliminary verification, the result was similar.Conclusion:Three-dimensional mechanical measuring device can be used to measure the orthodontic force. In this experiment, three-dimensional finite element model is accurate and reliable. The initial validation results shows that make use of the three-dimensional mechanical measuring device combined with the three-dimensional finite element modeling method and finite element analysis to set up periodontal stress analysis system is reliable.
