Background:Ebstein's anomaly is an exceeding rare congdition, the anatomic characteristics of Ebstein's anomaly include the following features:there is displacement of the spetal an posterior leaflets of the ruicuspid valve toward the apex of the right ventricle;the anter leaflet is larger than normal. The most common associated anomaly is an atrial septal defect. Ebstein's anomaly was first described by Wilhelm Ebstein in 1866.there was a 70% rate of survival to two years, when associated anomalies were present, only 15% of infants survived to teo years of age. Objective:To evaluate the eficacy of surgical treatment of Ebstein's anomaly with modified Carpentier's repair techniqueMethod:We analyzed 18 patients received corrective surgery for Ebstein's anomaly from Jun.2003 to oct.2003;All of them treating Ebstein's anomaly with, with modified Carpentier's repair technique:On the basis of Carpentier'S technique, the edge of posterior leaflet was sewed to the edge of anterior leaflet or septal leaflet in favor of enlarging the area of leaflet. Associated heart lesions were corrected at the same time. Result:There were one patient died of hypoxemia and arrhythmia. Complete heart block developed in one patient. Survivors were followed up for 6 months to 62months. No late death occurred. Conclusion:In the Treatment of Ebstein's Anomaly, The modified Carpentier'S repair technique that preserving the apex-to-base dimension of the right ventricle,is feasible and possesses a good outcome.
