objective: To observe the effects of osteogenic inducer (dexamethasone(10-8mol/L),β-sodium glycerophosphate(10mmol/L) and vitaminC(50mg/L) )carried by gelatin sponge on healing and remodeling of tooth extraction sockets in rabbit and supply experimental data for clinical treatment.methods:After extracting the first premolars on bilateral maxillary of fifty healthy adult male rabbit, the right side tooth extraction sockets filled with gelatin sponge including osteogenic inducer as experimental group,the left side tooth extraction sockets filled with gelatin sponge as control group. Every ten rabbits were executed at the end of 1,2,4,8,12weeks after tooth extracted .The specimens were examined by digital X-ray and histology. Measure each height of alveolar bone at 12 weeks to analysis. Results: The amount of bone formation of the experiment group were better which showing more complete bone fill of tooth extraction sockets than control group at 12 weeks.The absorptional height of alveolar bone was significant difference between experiment group and control group(p<0.01),of which experiment group was less. X-ray measurement showed that the bone density of tooth extraction sockets was gradually increased.The bone density of experiment group was super than control group,the difference has statistical significance(p<0.01) and the image of bone trabeculae in tooth extraction sockets of experimental groups was clearer than that of contral group at every stage except the first week. The histology examination showed that formation of new bone in tooth extraction sockets of experimental groups was earlier than control group.Ossification of experimental group can be observed in 1 week after operation,as it happened in 4 week in control group.In 8 weeks, tooth extraction sockets of experimental group filled with original bone trabecula which had became to lamellar bone partlly and haversian system.In control group generous fibroblast ,new bone and fibrous tissue coexistenced and the new bone had less full-blown tubiform bone architecture. The result of histology examination showed that bone healing in experiment groups is earlier for 4 weeks than that of control groups. Conclution: The compound of dexamethasone, vitamin C andβ-sodium glycerophosphate as the classical osteogenic inducer can induce marrow mesenchyme stem cell to differentiate into Osteoblasts for promoting formation of new bone both in in vitro and vivo。Tooth extraction sockets filled with gelatin sponge including Osteogenic inducer can recovery quickly .The osteogenic inducer carried by gelatin sponge has a satisfactory osteoinduction ability to promote formation of new bone and prevent from alveolar bone absorption,and is an ideal filling because it's convenient fabrication,simple operation,cheap expense and easy clinical generalization.
