| Rumex gmelini Turcz is classified as Rumex (Polygonaceae).Its root and rhizome have been used for antifungal,antitumor, antitussive and expectrant, antiasthma, antivirus and anti-oxidation.Endophytic fungi are the microbes associated with living tissue of plants without causing any noticeable symptoms of disease,which constitute a large and spcial fungai group,and they are found to be existed in all or almost all plants.It is reported that some endophytic fungi can produce the same metabolite produced by their hosts.For example,some endopytic fungi isolated from Taxus sp can produce taxol,one of the most important antitumor drugs.In the first part of the paper, we studied Rumex gmelini Turcz endophytic fungi on the inhibiting effect on the tumor cell lines of human in vitro. The results indicated RGT-S4 strongly inhibit the tumor growth of homo MGC-803 stomach cancer cells;homo smmc-7721 carcinoma of hepar,homo A549 adenocarcinoma of lung,homo MCF-7 breast adenocarcinoma; RGT-S11 strongly inhibit the tumor growth of homo MGC-803 stomach cancer cells; homo HELA carcinoma of cervix. RGT-S17 strongly inhibit the tumor growth of homo SGC-7901 stomach cancer cells, homo A549 adenocarcinoma of lung, homo smmc-7721 carcinoma of hepar; RGT-S48 strongly inhibit the tumor growth of homo SGC-7901 stomach cancer cells,homo A549 adenocarcinoma of lung, homo smmp-7721 carcinoma of hepar, homo Hela carcinoma of cervix, homo MGC-803 stomach cancer cells.and it is dose-dependent in these cells treated with endophytic fungus isolated from Rumex gmelini Turcz in vitro.In the second part of the experimentpaper,The basic physiological experiments of four strains:RGT-S4,RGT-S11,RGT-S17and RGT-S48have also been done,which include studies on the culture temperature,initial PH value of the medium,carbohydrate and nitrogenous nutrition.The results of two studies provide the theoretic basis for clinic application of Rumex gmelini Turcz in tumor treatment in the future.
