Objective: To establish the database and normal value of tibia ultrasound bone mass density in normal Han nationality children aged 0~14 years old in Kunshan area of Jiangsu Province, and analyse the change regularity and influence factors of the bone mass density among children aged 0~14 years old.Method: 0~14-year-old children were divided into 29 age group, each age group including 200 cases(male: 100 cases, female: 100 cases) health Han Chinese children. SOS of the left middle tibial bone of children was measured by an ultrasound bone analyzer. The measurements of SOS between genders among the different age groups were compared and the tendence of SOS was analyzed. The influence factors of the bone mass density were studied. Results: This study results indicated that tibia SOS increased with age in male and female groups, but the growth curve fluctuated in some age stage, and growth velocity of bone mineral density was inconsistent in different age group, and that the bone mineral density gradually increased with the increment of weight and height (length) of children, which is identical with children's growth and development of linear growth trend. The results showed that no significant differences of SOS were found between genders among the children aged 0~14-year-old groups, no significant differences of SOS between urban and rural areas. The bone mineral density of adolescent girls aged 13 years old with menarche were higher than the girls without menarche, which was significant differences. But for the 12~14-year-old boys with being seminal emission or not, there were no significant difference of the bone mineral density. BMD of children were influenced by a number of factors, protective factors such as age increases, height increase, weight increase, long time activities outdoor and so on , and risk factors including not taking vitamin D and calcium, father's occupation as workers, peasants and businessmen, mothers whose lower culture level; a large side fontanelle, odontiasis and grow permanent teeth delay, etc. But in the children's growth and development of different age, these effected factors are not identical. Conclusions: 1.The database of BMD in this area was obtained and can be used as a reference for the establishment of children's database.2. The reference range concerning BMD of 0~14-year-old normal Han children in all age groups of male and female were made , which can be used as a clinical standard of children BMD to appraise the growth of the bone, and provide more information about follow-up for children and osteoporosis research.3. Some relationship among the child bone mass density and age, gender living environment, weight and height (length) ,and the features of the child bone mass density variation and impact factors (protective factors and risk factors) ,were got, which is useful for medical practical work.
