Objective Study the mutagenicity, the DNA damage and the chromosome damage induced by glyphosate, aldicarb,methomyl in drinking water sources with genotoxicity methods. Methods. Surface water of the typical water source was sampled, which was seriously polluted by the three pesticides. These pesticides were added to the water sample, while the deionized water groups were prepared too. It simulates the drinking source water polluted by glyphosate, aldicarb and methomyl. The chromosome damage was tested by micronucleus test, the mutagenicity was assessed by Ames test, and the DNA damage was tested by comet assay. Results The chromosome damage in carp erythrocyte induced by the three pesticides in drinking water source were not observed; The number of colony in the 4 strains at all the group did not exceed the double of those at spontaneous mutation group,the mutagenicity induced by the pesticide-containing water source were not observed,but the number of revertant colonies in the TA97,TA98,TA100 and TA102 strains were increased while the the concentration of pesticides increased, they were higher than the spontaneous mutation group (P<0.05);The Tail DNA%, Tail Length, Tail Moment,Olive Tail Moment in the glyphosate at a concentration of 50μg/L and the aldicarb,methomyl at a concentration of 2μg/L and the higher group were higher than the solvent control group (P<0.05), it showed the three pesticides in drinking water source could resulted in DNA damage of human peripheral blood lymphocytes, with the concentration of pesticides increasing,the level of DNA damage was increased; Compared with the pesticides in the deionized water, the pesticides in drinking water source have the different genotoxicity,there is some combined action between the pesticides and the other things in the drinking water sourses. Conclusion The glyphosate, aldicarb,methomyl in drinking water source couldn't result the chromosome damage and the significant mutagenicity,but these three pesticides were able to induce the DNA damage.
