Female breast surface temperature can reflect the physiological function of breast tissue, and infrared thermal imaging can record the surface temperature of breast, and then obtain breast parameters through the algorithm. But there is not a precise method to extract the parameters of breast. On that account, we studied the inverse problem of breast heat transfer and taken the breast thermal images used thermal imaging in this paper.Firstly, the finite element method was used to solve the 3D thermal model of breast, the results showed that:the temperature of breast could be affected by the blood perfusion, metabolic heat generation, tumor size, position and tumor number. Secondly, a method was proposed to retrieve the parameters of breast tissue. It showed that:the accuracy of improved genetic algorithm was higher than base genetic algorithm; it could accurately retrieve the parameters of breast tumor and normal breast by the improved genetic algorithm, and the accuracy was affected by the noise existed in experiment. The more noise, the more error. Thirdly, the thermal images of normal and abnormal female subjects were taken by thermal imaging. Statistical analysis software was used to analyze the temperature of normal and abnormal breast, and the differences between them were compared. Finally, the improved genetic algorithm was used to retrieve the parameters of breast thermal imaging; the results were in good accordance with the ultrasound diagnosis results. In a word, the parameters of breast can be obtained using genetic algorithm based on the temperature from the breast thermal imaging, and the interpretation of the breast thermogram can be carried out. The results will be conducive to the clinical application for thermal imaging technology in the breast disease diagnosis.
