Objective:Asessment for the effects and safty of Chinese herbal compound formula in treating of primary hepatocellular carcinama (PHC) through transcatheter arterial chemoembolization. (TACE)Design:Cochrane systematic evaluationMethods:Refer to periodical embase of China (2000-2009), weipu periodical embase (2000-2010), WeiFang articles of academic degree (2000-2010), embase data base (2000-2010), and Cochrane systematic evaluation of liver-gallbladder disease professional registered data base in Cochrance libarary, and Cochrane registered data base of clinic controlled trial center (CENTRAL) electric database etc. and refer to National Chinese Core Periodicals such as "Chinese journal of liver disease" and "Hepatology journal of traditional and western medicine"etc. Inclusive researches are strictly accord with the inclusive criterial and exclusive criterial, and make quality evaluation for it. Data use Cochrane coroperation net software review manager4.2.2 for statistic analysis.Results:1. Total 111 research articles are about Chinese herbal compound formula in treating of primary hepatocellular carcinama (PHC) through transcatheter arterial chemoembolization. (TACE), Selected strictly accord with the inclusive criterial and exclusive criterial, at last 19 researches are got [18-36], the quality of documents are all C level.2. This systematic evaluation mentioned that TACE combined with Chinese herbal compound formula in treating of primary hepatocellular carcinama, may have effects in interfering in some areas such as, smaller the size of carcinama, improve the effective rate, improve the living quality and longterm life survive of the clients, reduce the pain of liver area, the symptoms of distention and fatigue, the fever of chemoembolization and the quatity of leukocyte. But in improving in whole effective rateof patient and and release the body symptoms and ascites the treatment team is better than compare team. But this difereciate has no statistic sagnificance.Conclusion:This systematic evaluation mentioned that TACE combined with Chinese herbal compound formula in treating of primary hepatocellular carcinama, may have effects in interfering in some area such as, smaller the size of carcinama, improve the effective rate, improve the living quality and longterm life survive of the clients, reduce the pain of liver area, the symptoms of distention and fatigue, the fever of chemoembolization and the quatity of leukocyte. But the sample is less and low quality of randomized controlled trial. There is no enough evidence for TACE combined with Chinese herbal compound formula in treating of primary hepatocellular carcinama has more advantage than simple TACE treatment. More experiments that are higher in quatity and quality, statistic random with enough follow up needed for the verification.
