Objective:To analyze the social psychological factors on etiology and severity of first-episode depression, and to explore the relation of social psychological factors on first-episode depression.Methods:100 patients of major depressive disorder and 100 normal controls were selected in our study with strict standards in Shanxi Medical University mental health clinics and wards during 2009-2010,SCID were used as standard clinical diagnostic tool. General demographic data,HAMD,HAMA,LES,TCSQ,EPQ,SSS scales were collected. These datum were used to evaluate severity of depression, the effect of life events, coping styles, personality and social support. The datum of study were input computer to description and analysis severity of depression with spss 13.0 for windows.Results:1,Analysis of demographic information:There were no significant differences of age, sex, marriage and educational level between in the patient group and control group (P>0.05)2,Patients with first-episode depression were different statistically in negative life events,the events of work and study. The relation of severity and life events in patients with first-episode depression showed that the severity of depressed patients and negative life events were positively correlated.3,Active coping style of depressed patients was significantly lower than the normal group, passive coping style was significantly higher than that in normal group. The relation of severity and coping styles in patients with first-episode depression display that the severity of depressed patients and passive style were positively correlated.4,Introvision personality of depressed patients were significantly lower than the normal group, personality of psychoticism and neuroticism were significantly higher than the normal group. The severity of depressed patients,psychoticism personality and neuroticism personality were positively correlated, while the severity of depressed Extro-introvision and lie were negatively correlated.5,Social support, objective support, subjective support and utilization of support of depressed patients were significantly lower than the normal group. The severity of depressed patients, subjective support and utilization of support were negatively correlated.6,Study of influencing factor showed:first-episode depression compared between women and men were found there was no significant different in life events, and there were significant different in coping style. The comparison of different age found that there were no significant different in life events, and there were significant different in coping style. The comparison of different cultures found that they were significant different in life events, coping style and social support.7,There were correlation between the event of life and personality of lie. The positive coping, psychoticism and neuroticism had negatively correlation, while with extro-introvision and lie personality had positively correlated. There were correlation social support and negative life events. The relation of life events and coping styles showed that negative life events and passive coping style were positively correlated.Conclusions:1. First-episode depression experienced more negative life events and the events of work and study. The severity of depressed patients and negative life events were positively correlated.2,First-episode depression showed more use of negative coping, less use of positive coping. The severity of depressed patients and negative coping were positively correlated.3,Social support, objective support, subjective support and utilization of support of depressed patients were significantly lower than that of the normal group. The severity of depressed patients, subjective support and utilization of support were negatively correlated.4,Extro-introvision personality of depressed patients were significantly lower than the normal group, psychoticism and neuroticism personality were significantly higher than the normal group. The severity of depressed patients,psychoticism and neuroticism personality were positively correlated, while the severity of depressed extro-introvision and lie personality were negatively correlated.5,First-episode depression included different general demographic data had difference in events of life, coping style and social support.6,Events of life, coping style, social support and personality of first-episode depression had correlation to some extent.
