Objective: To analyze the distribution ratio of different surgery methods ,based oniconography evaluation and the indications of anterior-posterior decompression methods. Methods: 525 patients with cervical spondylosis between July 2006 and June 2010 wereinvolved in this retrospective study. the iconography evaluation and the actual surgical methodsof every patients were statistically analyzed, then the distribution ratio of various surgicalmethods were analyzed based on our iconographic evaluation and indications ofanterior-posterior decompression methods. Results: According to iconography evaluation and the indications of anterior-posteriordecompression methods, the distribution ratio are as follows (1) 70.9% of all should bedecompressed from anterior approach, 18.9 % from posterior approach, 1.7% fromanteroposterior approach, 8.6 %from either posterior or anterior approach. (2) 35.6% of allshould be treated by discectomy, 38.3% should be treated by subtotal vertebrectomy, 5.5%should be treated by discectomy and corpectomies used together, 18.9% should be treated byposterior approach, 1.7% by anteroposterior approach . (3) 47.0% of all should be treated byanterior fusion, 23.5% should be treated by non-fusion, 4.0% should be treated by thecombination of fusion and artificial disc replacement, 18.9% should be treated by posteriorapproach ,1.7% by anteroposterior approach, 4.8% either from posterior approach or anteriorfusion. Conclusion: according to indications for anterior-posterior operative approach in cervicalspondylosis and iconographic evaluation criteria, anterior and posterior ,fusion and non-fusionsurgery have their different distribution ,for regular clinical examination.
