Objective To investigate the levels of eotaxin in unstable bronchial asthma patients with different peripheral airway resistance, and eotaxin as the evaluation of peripheral airway function in clinical value. Methods According to lung function,a total of 72 patients of unstable bronchial asthma were divided into three groups:normal peripheral airway function group(FEF25-75%≥80% and FEV1/FVC>70%,n=24);peripheral airway function with mild damage group(50%70%,n=26);peripheral airway function with severe damage group(FEF25-75%<50% and FEV,/FVC<70%,n=22).Subjects do pulse baseline pulmonary function, methacholine responsiveness determination was inspired to do if the measured FEV1>70% predicted value, peripheral blood cell was counted and the serum level of eotaxin were measured by ELESA.Results1 Peripheral airway function FEF25-75%<80% accounts for 66.7% of the total selected patients.2 The Eosinophils levers Eosinophils levers were significant lower in normal peripheral airway function group than that with mild damage and severe damage (P<0.01),eosinophils levers were significant lower in group with mild damage than with severe damage (P<0.01).3 The eotaxin levers The levels of serum eotaxin were significant lower in normal peripheral airway function group than that with mild damage and severe damage (F<0.01),eotaxin levers were significant lower in group with mild damage than with severe damage (P<0.01).4 the degree of centre airway resistance After methacholine challenge, the degree of centre airway resistance(PD2o)increased in normal peripheral airway function group and the group with mild damage, which shows statistically significant (P<0.01).5 Correlation Analysis Eotaxin correlated positively with eosinophils levels,(r=0.563,P=0.0001) and negatively with peripheral airway function(r=-0.735,P=0.0001).Conclusion Peripheral airway function declines in unstable asthma patients, the existence of peripheral airway disfunction has much more serious inflammation in patients than those without, the serum eotaxin levels may reflect peripheral airway function changes.
