Objective The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the angle of pedicle and flap on the survival of the perforator fascial pedicle flaps, and to supply reference for clinical application of this kind of flap. Methods Sixty SD rats were randomly divided into six groups:A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. Each group included 10 rats. A1 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 30°,the flap was advanced without tension; A2 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 30°,the flap was advanced with tension; B1 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 45°,the flap was advanced without tension; B2 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 45°,the flap was advanced with tension; C1 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 60°,the flap was advanced without tension; C2 group:the angle of pedicle and flaps was 60°,the flap was advanced with tension. Two perforator fascial pedicle flaps were separately created in abdomen of each rat with the same angle. The ratio of pedicle width to the sum length of pedicle and flap was 1:4. The flaps sutured after traction on the left side of abdomen were regarded as treated sides, and those sutured without traction on the other side were controlled sides. The advanced distance of the flaps and the length of the pedicle were measured during operation. The survival rate of the flap was measured on the 7th postoperative day. Base of flaps were evaluated with pathology by HE stain, and the density of the vessels were calculated. Results The advanced distance of the perforator fascial flap with different angle of pedicle and flap have significant deviation regardless of having tension or not(P<0.05), and the flaps with tension have more advanced distance than the flaps without tension (P<0.05).The survival rate of the perforator fascial flaps of controlled sides were similar on the flaps with different angles or same angles(P>0.05).The survival rate of the perforator fascial flaps of treated sides were similar on the flaps with different angles or same angles(P>0.05).The survival rate of flaps in treated sides were similar regardless of having tension or not.(P>0.05)The change of the length of pedicles of flaps with different angles after traction with tension have significant deviation(P<0.05).Conclusion The different angles had no effect on the survival rate of the perforator fascial pedicle flaps. The smaller angle of pedicle and flap induced the more advanced distance of the perforator fascial flaps. The tension traction resulted in the change of the length of pedicles, but had no effect on the survival rate of the perforator fascial pedicle flaps.
