Objective:To investigate the correlation between depression and the chronic diseases of Uygur elderly people in Xinjiang Hetian. In order to obtain some information for the precaution of depression related with chronic diseases of Uygur elderly people in Xinjiang. Methods:360 Uygur elderly people in Xinjiang Hetian were divided into two groups according to the ZUNG Self-rating Depression Scale:group 1 with depression (126 cases); group2 without depression (234 cases). The degree of depression was tested through ZUNG Self-rating Depression questionnaire. The data on the score of SDS and 14 basic information such as blood pressure, body weight, low-density lipoprotein were collected and analyzed. And how many people with depression in medical history of Hypertention, Coronary Heart Disease, Type 2 diabetes, Stroke were collected and analyzed. Results:The detection rate of depression related with Chronic Diseases in Uygur elderly people in Hetian is 35%. The factors of Chronic Diseases make a important influence in the happen of depression. The factors gender, age and drinking history did not show significant effects on the depression in two groups (P>0.05), and Chronic Diseases, smoking history show significant effects in two groups (P<0.05). The people have three or more related factors in group 1 were significantly higher than those of group2 (P<0.05). Conclusion:The prevalence of depression related with chronic diseases in Uygur elderly people in Xinjiang Hetian is high. People have one or more chronic diseases will have more higher prevalence rate of the depression than people without chronic diseases. It is suggested that more attention should be given to people with chronic diseases about depression in clinical therapy.
