| Objective:As the aging of population, the research of the disease of senile patients has become more and more important. To be the centre for rescue, ICU has provided the multiple function of the platform and the advanced medical treatment. But it still has great mortality, because the diseases were complex, the function of the organ of senile patients were poor, and the treatment could cause much damage as well. So it is important for us to do some research on the case fatality rate of senile patients. This will be helpful to the management, treatment of them and this can give us a direction for our future work.Data and method:By collecting the senile patient files from 2007-2010 in ICU, analysis the correlative factors of the case fatality rate, for example, the age, gender, the level of the WBC and albumin, state of mechanical ventilation, and the course of the treatment of the patients.Result:In all these 532 patients,132 of them were dead. The number of the male patients are 293,while the number of the female are 239,with the ratio of 1.22. The age of the oldest female patient is 96,while the female is 95. There are statistic differences between the level of the WBC, albumin, state of mechanical ventilation and the case fatality rate.Conclusion:(1) The case fatality rate of the patients is 25.5%, with the trend of rising by year. (2) The case fatality rate of the male is 25.9%, while of the female is 24.7%, which has no statistic differences. Patients of the age from 70-80 years old seems to need most careful treatment. (3) The order of the death reason for those patients from 2007-2010 are:respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, cerebralvascular disease, and the specific diseases are:lung infection, cerebral hemorrhage, and the cardiogenic cardiac arrest.4.The rising level of the WBC and the lowering level of albumin are closely related to the case fatality rate, while the mechanical ventilation and the course of treatment seems unrelated to the case fatality rate. |
