ObjectiveResearching the carpal tunnel syndrome by comparison of different treatment options. Probe into the clinical efficacy of flavored Astragalus and Cinnamou twig five ingredients decoction on the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS).Fully explore the theoretical resources and exert the superiority of of Chinese medicine theory to play for the clinical treatment with new methods and new ways.MethodsThe patients, who stayed in Zhongshan Chinese Medicine Hospital for specialist diagnosis and treatment during september 2010 to april 2011, a total of 49 cases, including 16 cases were male and 33 females, aged 24.0-64.0 years, mean age 46.5, were randomly divided into the treatment group (25 cases) and the control group (24 cases). The treatment group and control group all took methylcobalamin tablets, diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets, The treatment group began to add flavored Astragalus and Cinnamou twig five ingredients decoction on the first of the treatment. After the treatment of 2,4,8 weeks, we'11 visit the two groups of patients at each ant-inflammatory times. According to related sensory and sport evaluation index, to make detailed observations and record the curative effects.And before and after treatment were separately measured for each patient to take blood, urine, then routine, liver and kidney function, and establish corresponding database, before and after the treatment. A prospective before and after their group-control study, contrast between groups research methods, collect data of statistical analysis to evaluate the clinical curative effect and safety.ResultBefore treatment, there are no significant differences with the gender, age, motor evoked action potential latency and sensory nerve conduction velocity between the treatment group and control group. No gastrointestinal side effects, allergic reactions, accelerate heartbeat and other adverse reactions.ConclusionFlavored Astragalus and Cinnamou twig five ingredients decoction is a safe and effective traditional Chinese medicine preparation in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. This prescription has convenient sources, definite effects, small side effects and other characteristics, in clinical practice has certain advantages is the ideal prescription to the clinical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. Therefore, it has a broad prospect of development and application.
