Objective:To study the effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus(L.acidophilus) on the proliferation and cell cycle distribution of Tongue Cancer cell (Tca8113).Methods:In vitro cultivated human Tongue cancer cells (Tca8113) were divided into four groups that were treated respectively by L.acidophilus supernatant, L.acidophilus inactivated bacilli, cell-free extracts and normal culture medium to investigate the proliferous effects of Tca8113 taking use of microscope, cell counting, SRB and Flow Cytometry. The free radical and Ca2+ in Tca8113 cell were also studied using CLSM.Results:At the 48th hour after adding 1,4,16-fold(s) L.acidophilus components, the Tca8113 cells have changed in shape from the diamond-like, polygonal and slabs into the elongated form; In the condition of different times and different culture concentrations, the proliferation of Tca8113 cells is significantly inhibited in 1-fold L.acidophilus components, which has enhanced as the prolonged time and the increased concentration of each L.acidophilus component by the cell count and the SRB experimental analysis. And the cell proliferation index (PI) shows significantly reduced (P<0.01); The free radical and Ca2+ in Tca8113 cell under the effect of each 1-fold L.acidophilus components for 48 hours indicates obviously rising (P<0.01).Conclusion:L.acidophilus restrains the proliferation of Tca8113 cell, which might be due to the increse in quantity of free radical and Ca2+ in Tca8113 cell, and might be resulted from the release of metabolic products of L.acidophilus.
