Objective:To study the predictive value of QRS shortening (â–³QRSd)following cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT)for response to CRT in patients with end-stage heart failure by a Meta-analysis. Methods:The clinical studies of the value of QRS shortening in predicting response to cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with end-stage heart failure were searched in Medline,Pubmed,Embase from Jun 1998 to Oct 2010,and Cochrane Library(Issue 3,2010). Six studies were enrolled into the analysis. The details of the trial design, characters of the subjects and results of the studies were reviewed by two independent authors and analyzed by using Revman 5.0 software. Results:QRS shortening following CRT differed significantly between responders and non-responders,there was a statistical difference inâ–³QRS. [WMD=--17.64,95%CI (-27.42,-7.86),P<0.05]. Conclusion:QRS shortening was a predictor of long-term clinical improvement after CRT in patients with severe heart failure.
