ObjectiveThe objective of the current study was to evaluate the accuracy and feasibility of Gemstone Computed Tomography Angiography(GCTA) in detecting coronary artery stenosis in patients probability for having CAD when compared with invasive angiography. To explore the diagnosis of CAD and its clinical signification with gemstone computed tomography (GCT).Subjects and Methods36 patients with known or suspected CAD in the First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College during Mar. 2010 to Apr.2011 were studied. Each patient underwent CTA and conventional catheter-based selective coronary angiography (CAG) which served as gold standard in 1 week. For the analysis of GCTA and CAG, the coronary artery tree was broken down in 15 segments after a modified American Heart Association (AHA) classification and all segments were analysed individually. A luminal narrowing of≥50% based on visual estimation was considered significant in both modalities. The diagnostic accuracy of GCTA was expressed as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and diagnose accordance rate.ResultsOf a total of 540 coronary artery segments, 523(97%) were visible by GCTA and CAG simultaneously. The GCTA had a sensitivity of 90.7%, specificity of 98.7%, positive predictive value of 90.0%, negative predictive value of 98.9%, diagnose accordance rate of 98.0%, respectively.ConclusionThe GCTA has a high accuracy for the detection of significant coronary stenosis and therefore can be considered as a valuable noninvasive technique.
