Objective:To investigate the choice of time of orthopedic surgery for cubitus varus deformity after supracondylar fracture of humerus.Method:The clinical follow-up data of 66 patients with cubitus varus deformity after supracondylar fracture of humerus were reviewed from January 2007 to October 2009. According to the different time of operation after trauma, these cases were divided into two groups(group A and group B).Result:The pre-operative carrying angle of group A was-25.68°±8.531 degree, and the post-operative carrying angle was 10.21°±1.548 degree, and it was-29.04°±8.574 degree and7.38°±6.791 degree in group B respectively. The increasing angle of elbow extension and flexion was 12.63±12.842 degree in group A and 4.68°±11.297degree in group B. And there was no complication occurred such as deformity recurrence and ununion and nerve injury in two groups. Conclusion:Early osteotomy for cubitus varus deformity can resume the powerline of upper limb and movement axes of elbow joint,it can contribute to repair the elbow pathomorphism and improve the joint function and correct deformity at the same time.
