Object:To investigate the roles of EZH2 and CBX7 in human colorectal cancer, and its correlation with clinic-pathological parameters, survival time and the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer. Methods:Immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of EZH2 and CBX7 of samples with colorectal cancer. We analyzed the expression patterns of EZH2 and CBX7 of association with various clinic-pathological parameters, survival time and prognosis of patients by using the software SPSS 15.0.Results:From all 69 colorectal cancer samples, the positive rate of EZH2 in cancer tissues was 57.6%, which was significantly higher than in adjacent tissues and normal tissues (P<0.01). The positive rate of CBX7 was 50.7%, which was also over expressed, but not significant. The expression of EZH2 correlated with differentiation (P<0.05), and it might be correlated with gender situation (P>0.05). The expression of CBX7 correlated with Dukes'stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), and it might be correlated with tumor sizes (P>0.05). By using Kaplan-Meier method analysis, we acquired the median survival time of samples with EZH2 negative expressed were more than 49.53 months, while the positive expressed ones were 41.00 months. The samples with EZH2 negative expressed acquired better survival time than the positive ones, and the P value was significant (P<0.05). The median survival time of samples with CBX7 negative expressed were more than 49.73 months, while the positive expressed ones was 48.00 months. The samples with CBX7 negative expressed acquired better survival than the positive ones, and the P value was significant(P<0.05). By using the Cox proportional hazards model, we found out that Dukes'stage, p16 expression status were independent prognostic factors. Conclusion:EZH2 was over expressed in colorectal cancer. The positive rate of EZH2 in cancer tissue was significant higher than in adjacent tissues and normal tissues. CBX7 was also over expressed, but the P value was not significant. The samples with negative EZH2 expressed acquired better survival than the positive ones, but it was not an independent factor to prognosis. CBX7 had a similar performance in survival and prognosis analysis. The expression of EZH2 correlated with differentiation, and might be correlated with gender situation. The expression of CBX7 correlated with Dukes'stage and lymph node metastasis, and might be correlated with tumor sizes. The factors of Dukes' stage, p16 expression status were possibly the independent factors influencing CRC prognosis.â‘ Up to the date of 2010.04.15 when we followed up the patients for a last time, the survival samples of EZH2 negative expressed were over a half. The patient with a shortest OS finished his operation on 2006.02.27, and the shortest OS were 49.53 months.â‘¡Up to the date of 2010.04.15 when we followed up the patients for a last time, the survival samples of CBX7 negative expressed were over a half.
