Purpose: To analyze and summarize the experience and efficency of surgical treatments for prostate cancerMethods: The clinical data of 30 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy between Ju1.2005 and dec.2009 were retrospectively analyzed.15 cases had retropubic radical prostatectomy and 15 cases had extroperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.Indexes of operative time, blood loss during the operation, postoperative hospital stay and postoperative complications between the two groups were compared. Results: Patients were followed up for 3-18 months, mean 9.8 months, no deaths. Open radical prostatectomy group:15 cases, mean operative time (233.33±33.52) min, mean blood loss (653.33±128.82) ml, mean postoperative hospital stay (17.47±3.74) days, 1 case occurred postoperative urinary fistula, 10 cases occurred temporary urinary incontinence, recovered in 1 to 2 months. 1 case occurred Urethral stump-positive, 1 case occurred cancer residual in the rear side. 2 cases had not decreased to normal PSA, plus flutamide adjuvant hormone therapy, they gradually returned to normal. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy group:15 cases, mean operative time (116.67±31.09) min, mean blood loss (199.67±76.07) ml,mean postoperative hospital stay (17.87±4.41) days, 1 case occurred postoperative urinary fistula, 8 cases had temporary urinary incontinence, recovered in 1-2 weeks. The PSA of postoperative of most patients were quickly descented to≤0.003,except 2 patients of the open surgery group. Two sets of statistical show results: the operative time of the laparoscopic surgery group is shorter than the open surgery group (P <0.01), less blood loss of the laparoscopic surgery group than the open surgery group (P <0.01), postoperative hospital stay is not significantly different (P>0.05), while the laparoscopic surgery group occurred less postoperative complications, the recovery time of temporary urinary incontinence of the laparoscopic surgery group is shorter than the open surgery group (P <0.01).Conclusions: The radical prostatectomy is a good method for treatment of prostate cancer,The extraperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is an effective minimally invasive technique with less trauma, better recovery and less complications. It is worth to be used in clinical practice.
