Intravitreal Triamcinolone Injection Combined With Macular Laser Photocoagulation To Treat Cystoid Macular Edema

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of intravitreal triamcinolone(IVTA) injection and IVTA combined with macular laser grid photocoagulation(MLG) to treatⅡ-Ⅲgrade cystoid macular edema,and investigate the way of treatment.Methods The Cases had been collected from the ophthalmologic clinic of the Affiliated Hospital of zunyi Medical college,37 (37eyes) patients were measured during March in 2009 year and March in 2010, selecting treatment modus by the way of voluntary non-random. The simple group was only selected with IVTA when date was simple;the combine group was selected with MLG after one month of IVTA when date was double.14 (14eyes) were received only IVTA,15(15eyes) received IVTA and MLG, there were removed in the combine group.All the patients were inspected the central macular thickness(CMT) and best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),and IOP,OCT,FFA,and slit lamp,complication,recurrence and aggravation before and after IVTA (1,3,6 months) were followed and analyzed.All the patients must sign operation protocol before IVTA or MLG.Results Onpreoperation and postoperation(1,3,6-months),the CMT in the combine group and the simple group was (692.07±142.68),(300.13±159.30),(265.73±143.26),(212.87±77.76) um and (818.50±142.14),(403.07±163.47),(329.00±149.72),(484.36±327.03) um respectively,and on the 6th months(F=11.267, P=0.002);the log MAR visual acuity in the combine group and the simple group was (3.69±0.70),(4.12±0.57),(4.17±0.53),(4.22±0.58) and(3.78±0.56),(4.23±0.39),(4.29±0.31),(3.66±0.79) respectively,and on the 6th months (Z=57.00, P=0.037).8 eyes recured occurred in the simple group and 4 eyes in the combine group (P<0.05).High intraoular pressure occurred in 4 patients and was controlled by eye drops in 2 patients and by additional oral medicine in 2 in all patients.Conclusions Giving macular laser grid photocoagulation(MLG) after one month of intravitreal triamcinolone(IVTA) injection inⅡ-Ⅲgrade cystoid macular edema(CME) can effectively maintains improved visual acuity and reduce macular edema and recurrent.and the result is limited because of few sample or short time,so we will observe continuously.
