Objective:To evaluate the efficiency and safety of intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator(rt-PA)in patients with acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusionMethods:Total 52 patients with acute vertebrobasilar stroke within 12 hours of symptom onset were enrolled in the study. All patients were administrated with basilar treatment (NS 250ml+ buflomedil 200mg,NS 250ml + cerebroprotein hydrolysate 20 ml).52 cases of progressive vertebrobasilar artery occlusion were divided into two groups(one is administrated with rt-PA in a dose of 0.9mg/kg). The assessment of nerve function by National Institues of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score was given before treatment,in 24 hours,48 hours and on 7th day,21st day after treatment. The Barthel Index (BI)was made on 7 th day,14th day and 21st day. Modified Rankin Score (mRS)was also assessed on 90th day.Meantime, the adverse event and complication were monitored. Results:There were significant nerve function (NIHSS)improvements in 24 hours,on 7th day and 21st day after treatment. There were improvements in mRS after 90 days treatment. There were no death or hemorrhagic case. Conclusion:It suggests that prolonged intravenous thrombolysis with rt-PA in patients with progressive vertebrobasilar artery occlusion is safe and effective.
