Objective:To investigate survival prognosis of locally advanced breast cancer in terms of treatment and related affecting factors. Methods:Clinical information of 220 patients with locally advanced breast cancer treated in Tian Jin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from Juan 1995 to Juan 1996 was reviewed. Statistical methods included Kaplan-Meier survival curves, long-rank test and COX proportional hazard regression model multivariate analysis.Results:220 patients of locally advanced breast cancer had intact follow-up data. The median survival time was 120 months, three-year over survival rate was 80%, five-year over survival rate was 64%, and ten-year over survival rate was 61%. The disease free survival time was 120 months, three-year over survival rate was 84%, five-year over survival rate was 78%, and ten-year over survival rate was 77%.Univariate analysis found that the size of tumor,TNM stage were related to survival rates. COX regression analysis demonstrated TNM stage and estrogen receptor were related to survival rates. Conclusion:The size of tumor,TNM stage, estrogen receptor are the major independent prognostic factors of locally advanced breast cancer. Therefore, improving the earlier diagnosis to give the earlier treatment is the key point to improve the survival rates of locally advanced breast cancer. The neoadjuvant chemotherapy and regular endocrine therapy are the necessary measures to improve the survival rates of locally advanced breast cancer.
