The Externalized TCM Syndrome Differentiation Study Of Bronchial Asthma Of The Syndrome Type Of Wind-phlegm Obstruction Of The Lung Based On Factor Analysis

The syndrome differentiation of bronchial asthma in traditional Chinese medicine is highly subjective and is characterized by various different schools of chinese Medicine theories. These characteristics are disadvantages for both TCM treatment and scientific research. In this paper, with the principle of TCM syndrome differentiational method, and the syndrome type as the basic unit, using the advanced statistical method--factor analysis, the author systemically analyze the intrinsic structure of Wind-phlegm obstruction of the lung, the commonly seen syndrome type of asthma, and its role in the disease of bronchial asthma. The author hereby introduce the idea of objective syndrome differentiation and its standard for clinical purpose and the discussion of the similarity and difference between it and traditional syndrome differentiation. It's a useful try of study in syndrome differentiation.This paper is composed 4 parts as below:theory study, clinical study, statistical study and discussion. In the theory study, the author weigh the advantages and disadvantages of syndrome differentiation by present doctors. The author come up with the opinion that traditional syndrome differentiation is the basic syndrome unit, and the information acquired through the four diagnostic methods is the premise of the externalized TCM syndrome differentiation. The abstraction of basic syndrome elements embodied in the ancient medical records and the contrast between the TCM term "xiao disease" and the bronchial asthma in western medicine lead to the conclusion that "xiao disease" should be replaced by the bronchial asthma to the field of study. Meanwhile, the author integrate the manifestations and the therapeutic experience of bronchial asthma, and demonstrate the possibility of choosing the syndrome type of Wind-phlegm obstruction of the lung as the Breakthrough Point. Besides, the author explain the value of factor analysis in the externalized TCM syndrome differentiation. In the clinical study, the author state the detail of how to establish the primary databases the information acquired through the four diagnostic methods, the distinction, quantization and standardization of the study methods in the externalized TCM syndrome differentiation.In the statistical study, the author use the Single Factor Analysis and correlation analysis to study the distribution and the forming of the information acquired through the four diagnostic methods from 100 patients with bronchial asthma and 52 patients with the syndrome type of Wind-phlegm obstruction of the lung. With the methods above, the author draw the objective standard of Wind-phlegm obstruction of the lung in the externalized TCM syndrome differentiation and its traditional intrinsic. The author use factor analysis to analyse the information acquired through the four diagnostic methods from 52 patients with the syndrome type of Wind-phlegm obstruction of the lung, and compared with the traditional syndrome differentiation, come to the actual intrinsic structure and the annexing, changing and exclusion of this syndrome type. In the discussion, the author analyze the TCM explanations to the statistical results, the existent problems and solutions, such as the management of information acquired through the four diagnostic methods and TCM syndrome differentiation of western medicine disease.This study is an attempt of both the inheritance of the excellent thoughts and innovation in basic theory and research methods in TCM syndrome differentiation. It also tries to tighten the linkage between western medicine disease, TCM syndrome type and TCM treatment. With the guideline of integrate syndromes and diseases, the author conduct the modern research of TCM syndrome differentiation. It aims at the exploration path on which reasonably combined of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine.
