Abstract:bjective:To investigate the effect of reconstruction of laryngeal function after partial laryngectomy in 124 patients suffering from laryngeal carcinoma. Methods:Clinical data of 124 patients suffering from laryngeal carcinoma who received partial laryngectomy and reconstruction of laryngeal function from January 2000 to December 2004 were studied retrospectively (male 115 cases, female 9 cases). Among them,91 cases were glottic carcinomas,29 cases were supraglottic carcinomas,4 cases were transglottic carcinomas, Classified accordingly by UICC standard of years 2002:36 cases of T1N0M0,2 cases of T1N1M0,43 cases of T2N0M0,9 cases of T2N1M0,14 cases of T3N0M0,11 cases of T3N1M0,8 cases of T3N2M0,1 case of T4N2M0; 36 cases ofâ… ,43 cases ofâ…¡,36 cases ofâ…¢,9 cases ofâ…£. In common 4 kinds of operations were performed:28 cases underwent cordectomy,64 cases vertical laryngectomy,21 horizontal supraglottic laryngectomy,11 horizontovertical (3/4) laryngectomy,85 cases underwent concurrent neck dissection. Safety margin of less than or equal to 5mm was suspected of having residual lymph node metastasis, the postoperative radiation therapy to treatment. Results:All cases restored their phonation and overcome aspiration with removing nasal feeding from 1 to 20 days after operations.112 cases were decannulated after operations. Decannulation rate was 90.3%. Through periodic review of out-patient clinics or telephone follow-up,family members follow-up a variety of ways, the follow-up rate is 91.1%, dollars lost to death. The three years survival rates were 83.1%(103/124). The five years survival rates were 72.6 %(90/124). Conclusions:Partial laryngectomy is a kind of radical operation with reservation of laryngeal function. Qualities of life and curative effect, were greatly improved.
