Methods: Multistage cluster sampling method was used and 3897 volunteers were enrolled in the study. All the patients underwent recoding of smoking, systolic blood Pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure(DBP), duration of diabetes, body mass index (BMI), total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), The intima-media thickness(IMT) of carotid arteries, pulse pressure(PP), ankle-brachial index (ABI), and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (b-a PWV) were measured by non-invasive method. SPSS 13.0 software package was used for the analysis. The prevalence between man and woman in different ages was analyzed. The relationship between atherosclerosis and the risk factors of cardiovascular disease was analyzed. Results: The prevalence was 40.71% in Hazakh nationalities, and 46.04% in Han nationalities those≥35 years. The atherosclerosis prevalence was statistical difference in gender (p<0.05). The atherosclerosis prevalence rate was higher with age growth (p<0.05). Compared with Han nationalities group, DBP, PP, ABI, b-a PWV, R-IMT, urea nitrogen, creatinine, uric acid, glucose, triglyceride, high density lipoproteins, smoking, drinking, hyperlipidemia, DM, were different in group Hazakh nationalities (p<0.05). The HBP, DM, hyperlipidemia prevalence and the rate of awareness and under control were 43.9%, 57.7%, 44.1%; 4.7%, 53.8%, 40.0%; 40.6%, 27%, 9.9% in Hazakh nationalities in XinJiang, and were 44.2%, 64.4%, 45.6%; 13.3%, 77.1%, 42.7%; 61.2%, 53.3%,18.2%. Conclusion: The prevalence of atherosclerosis in Han nationalities was higher than in Hazakh nationalities those≥35 years. The atherosclerosis prevalence was statistical difference in gender (p<0.05). The hyperlipidemia prevalence was high and the rate of awareness and under control were low in Hazakh and Han nationalities in XinJiang, the prevalence, the rate of awareness and under control in Han nationalities were higher than in Hazakh nationalities. (p<0.05).
