The Research Of Pulmonary Oil Embolism Of The Rabbit After Transcatheter Oily Embolization

Objective: To research whether or not Lipiodol Ultra-fluid can induce pulmonary oil embolism of the rabbit after Transcatheter Oily EmbolizationMethod: 72 majority rabbits(weight2.3~2.5kg)were randomly divided into five groups,10 rabbits in the control group,0.2ml/kg and 0.4ml/kg intravenous injection group,21 rabbits in 0.2ml/kg and 0.4ml/kg hepatic arterial injection group(sacrificing 3 rabbits after operation every day in one week).All of the rabbits were examined with CT before the administration to compare with condition after the administration. After injecting Lipiodol Ultra-fluid per vein or hepatic artery , we were observing the basic vital signs of the rabbits(e.g. respiration,heart rate,etc.)for 7 days. Before reciping specimens,All of the rabbits were examined with CT(including the dead rabbits in the week),especially to observe the liver and the lungs. At last,the histological changes of the liver and the lungs were observed under the microscope. Results: All of the rabbits in the 0.2ml/kg and 0.4ml/kg intravenous injection groups were dead. Combined with the changes of the basic vital signs,CT and the histological changes of the lung,we obviously found pulmonary oil embolism in all of the rabbits. The rabbits of the control group,0.2ml/kg and 0.4ml/kg hepatic arterial injection group were alive. Combined with the changes of the basic vital signs,CT and the histological changes of the liver and the lungs,we found that in the two hepatic arterial injection groups,the liver of the rabbits were necrosis of oily embolization,but no pulmonary oil embolism. At the same time we found some iodinated oil particles in the lungs in some rabbits。Conclusions: Lipiodol Ultra-fluid can pass through normal hepatic artery-- hepatic vein communicating branchs to the lung of the rabbit,but can not induce pulmonary oil embolism.
