On The Organization Of Islamic Conference

As far as the scale and structure are concerned, the Organization of Islamic Conference, including the countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and America, is the second largest international organization after United Nation. And it plays a significantly positive role in international Islamic solidarity and fighting against external threats.However, OIC can't hide its drawbacks and bottleneck in dealing with its internal affairs. Taking Palestinian cause for example, this thesis retrospects the background of OIC meetings and its related resolutions, and finds the following problems.1)it is an unconciliative contradiction between international islamic solidarity and national interest priority. 2)the lack of democracy and bureaucracy are the balk of the organization. 3)OIC is sufferring greatly from the severe financial problems. From an institutional point of view, the reason of its low efficiency lies in the looseness of membership, lack of specific regime of punishment and supervision of obligation, and an overloaded agenda scope.OIC played an important role, but since 1990s it has been undergoing a very inefficient way, and is even tough to move forward. Stepping into 21 century, the organization has begun to try to carry out some reforms. It has made some acheivments though, it is still facing great difficulty and challenge. The direction and effection are still to be seen.
