Dialogue is a key factor to the success of a novel, an important criteria measuring whether this novel is wonderful or not, and where the spirit lies. Under different times background, novel writng demonstrates various styles and features. As an important part of novel language, dialogue tends to be focused on. In the 1980s, when people had just gone through the severe winter of the Cultural Revolution, novelists of those days, who had been influenced by the western culture and led by a desire for change, devoted themselves to the reform of novel styles one after another.1980s is the novels of modern exploration and transformation of the most active period of the most obvious results, During this time, the diversification of forms of novels, various ideas interwoven. They firstly made effort to reform the fictional language; what's more, they paid much attention to the creation of characters' dialogue. Therefore, the fictional dialogue in 1980s demonstrated a variation, which is different from that of the traditional novel. This thesis is intended for the study of fictional dialogue in 1980s, especially focusing on the variation of the fictional dialogue language based upon rhetoric, and from the variation of the form and language communication, analyzes the unconventional writing and its variation, as well as its aesthetic effect, which are demonstrated in the fictions in 1980s under the special times language conditions.
