College English writing is not only one of the culminating manifestations of comprehensive language competence but also one of the ultimate goals of English teaching. But over the past years, there is still a great discrepancy between college students'English writing ability and general requirements of College English Curriculum. How to improve English writing teaching has emerged as a very prominent problem, hence many teachers are probing into various kinds of methods to overcome such difficulty.Memetics theory is a new concept which based on Darwin's New Evolution Theory to explain the rules of culture evolution. By means of recitations, imitation and association, it can provides a fast, efficient way for college English writing teaching. This study, based on memetics theory, from the perspective of empirical study, attempts to carry out the research with the purpose of finding feasible methods for college English writing teaching exploration, and enrich college English writing teaching methods.From the results of quantitative and qualitative study, it is show that memetics can influence English writing teaching in five aspects. First, it can enlarge and enrich students'vocabulary and therefore overcome fossilization of vocabulary. Secondly, it can reduce error occurrences in order to improve accuracy, fluency and sense of language. Third, it can reduce the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue. Fourth, it can promote students'overall level of English writing. Fifth, it can reduce students'anxiety and stimulate their enthusiasm of English writing.
