Professor Ding Jiyuan, a master and theorist of Traditional Qin, has made great contributions to the development of musical education in Henan province, among which the contributions in researches of set to music and Chinese traditional musical theory is most prominent.Once the school of Zhongzhou Traditional Qin is a brilliant one. But with the last person who was good at the Traditional Qin passing away in the middle of the 1960s, its sound couldn't be heard any more. In order to let the school have qualified successors, Professor Ding Jiyuan organised and led the persons who work in the Special Committee of Traditional Qin, Music Association of Henan Province to study, organised and set to music on its many written version left to make the music dying out discovered and organised. In addition, she also organised the training classes ,which have the universal and teaching character. Six years has passed, and the students of Professor Ding have spread all over the country. Not only does Professor Ding focus on teaching but studies very hard and respects her teachers. Her Traditional Qin teacher is Professor Gu Meigeng, who is a successor of the shool of Chuan Traditional Qin in Shenyang College of Music. During the Cultural Revolution, especially under the circumstances when her teacher suffered persecution, Professor Ding still didn't forget to keep in touch with her teacher by writing letters. In this way, she cared for her teacher and listened to her teacher's earnest teachings.Professor Ding's great contributions to the cause of the education of Henan not only show in the field of Chinese Traditional Qin, but show in the field of Chinese traditional theoretical research. And her dissertations on this field were all published on the core-periodical on music. So we can see the acdemic value of her dissertations is very high. In the field of Chinese traditional theoretical research, she focuses on the research into Yan melody, Xianghe melody, Baishi Daoren's music score and so on. In the research into Yan melody, she researches into the Yan music's Gong melody, pitch, syllable and Qi Gong Si Diao in particular. In the research into Xianghe melody, she mainly researches into what Xianghe melody's Qing, Ping, Se, Chu, and Se are; qing, ping, and se three notes are three gong, each gong has five melody, a total of fifteen notes; qing, ping, se, chu and ce are five gong, each gong has five melody, a total of twenty-five notes. In the research into Baishi Daoren's music score, her main research lies in the research into the written words and translation of the 17 songs of Baishi Daoren. In the research into these aspects, her outstanding character is that she not only can express her right opinions, but can find the reasons why other researchers can't agree to her opinions on these aspects.
