Language, as the most important of human communication tool, develops along with the human society, the most sensitive part of which is its vocabulary. As the most active component of language, vocabulary is always one of the concerns of the linguistic study. In the process of social development, the neologisms, reflecting new things, new thoughts, new concepts, new situation and so on, representing new meaning, new usage, and generally appear in people's daily spoken and written language. These neologisms contain the exact new meanings and expressions, which are also convenient with the people communication during the contemporary era. And these neologisms witness the development process of human language; they also reflect the social development and change in global economics, politics, culture, and entertainment.Take an overview of the English vocabulary generation and development history, we can find that, during more than 1,500 years of human history development, English has become the world's most sensitive and the most active, which take along with about 100 million words. English get such a rapid development because it has a powerful ability to create neologisms. It can unceasingly fusion European and other different languages; it can also accept other languages'vocabulary. This makes it gradually become an international language.Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the C.P.C, China's political and economic system has a series of reform and change; Chinese society also has a huge change over all. With the accelerating infrastructure construction and reform, the process of global integration also speed up in the fields of Global politics, economics and trade, culture, science and technology and so on. In such a global economic boom as the background, China-Context English Neologisms (CCENs) spring up at the historic moment, and are gradually formed as a sizeable Chinese English vocabulary. It is worthwhile for us to carefully study and do research about this. This thesis focuses on the national condition in China, with the discussion of the causes and other features of generating China-context English neologisms formation since China's socialist market economy system was carried out. The whole thesis can be divided into five chapters, mainly clarifying the forming factors of China-context English neologisms, such as the special political, economic, social, cultural, and other factors, then analyzing the source of China-context English neologisms, and classifying the formation source features and translation methods of the China-context English new words. Most of China-context English neologisms in the thesis are collected from Chinese New Word Jargons Dictionary (1993), Dictionary of Modern Chinese New Words (1994), A Dictionary of New English Words (1996), and the English-Chinese Dictionary (supplement) (1999), Oxford Advanced Learner's English-Chinese Dictionary (Extended fourth edition) (2002), the 20th Century Words (2002) and so on, and also from China Daily, China Youth Daily, and partly from English New Words'website:www.wordspy.com. According to the neologisms collection, the author also objectively makes a comprehensive and systematic analysis to the China-context English neologisms, such as clarifying the CCEN's form source classification as the political system, economic development, scientific and technical, social life and the fields of culture, sports and entertainment. According to the features of their formation classification, the semantic features of these neologisms and translation methods are analyzed. The innovation in this thesis is that, with the Chinese socialist market economy system and development and change of globalization, China-context English neologisms are interacted with the social and cultural changes. The analysis of social and cultural characteristics of CCENs from the angle of social linguistics is made, because language mainly develops and evolves under the background of social changes, with the social development being the most important impetus of neologism production. Under what kind of the social background and causes are these neologisms generally produced? What are the main formation features and rules? How can they be translated into English? These questions will be discussed.According to the research, the author finds that of all these social factors, the most influential is political system, economic development, the scientific and technological progress and the people's daily life diversification. Meanwhile, the increasing tend of globalization makes it possible that different countries are able to share various material products, advanced technology and diversified culture with other countries in different fields. Along with the Chinese reform and open policy, the contact between China and the English-speaking countries becomes much closer than ever before. More and more Chinese and English corresponding new words are increasing and becoming applicable more widely and consistently. The originally produced transition language, pidgin, has been gradually replaced by Chinese English, which is now widely used and accepted. The China-context English neologisms are also being accepted and used by the English speakers, which is also a major feature of China-context English neologisms.Chinese and English are the two most widely used languages in the world, so it is important for us to take a comprehensive, systematic and classified look at China-context English neologisms and make a necessary understanding and acknowledge of the China-context English neologisms formation rules and causes and development trends, especially to the language teachers and researchers. At the same time, by comparison and analysis of these new words in English with Chinese characteristics, it will also bring much more language information to the foreign language learners and native language users, thus effectively expanding their vocabulary.
