The Research Of Speaking Yugan Dialect Chidren's Phonological Awareness Development Characteristics And Its Relationship With Pinyin Level

The study of phonological awareness has drawn the attention of linguists in recent years since it has a close relation with common linguistic capability. Many studies has proved that it can predict children's reading ability. With popularizing of mandarin and studying deeply of language learning , the study on phonological awareness has presented a fresh development trend,that is, mandarin phonological awareness of children speaking dialects. Based on this trend, we choose children speaking Yugan dialect as our objectives, to provide the theory foundation for enhancing their mandarin level by revealing their characteristics of phonological awareness development and its effect factors.According to the men-made tests on phonological awareness, we gave individual tests on 95 Yugan pupils , then analyzed the statistics with T-test, one-way analysis of variance, multiple-factor analysis of variance, correlation analysis and regression analysis . The results are the following:The phonological awareness of Yugan children increase quickly in grade I and grade III,but it doesn't happen between grade III and grade V , girls'phonological awareness is better than boys'. Besides this,the results also show on the the four components of phonological awareness.The order from top to bottom of the four components of Yugan children's phonological awareness is: syllable awareness, intonation awareness, onset and rime awareness, phonemic awareness.Comparing the development degree of all components in the present survey of formal corresponding studies, we found that the development of the three components of phonological awareness of children speaking Yugan dialects lag behind children speaking mandarin regardless of grades which they are.Through the regression analysis, pinyin level is found to be able to predict children's phonological awareness, moreover, the grades higher the children are on, the closer the correlation between phonological awareness and pinyin level they are, and the better pinyin competence accounts for the development of phonological awareness...
