Erhu art, undeniably, is inconvertible affected by the people who played the erhu, especially the ideas of the excellent performers. In fact, the one who is able to make remarkable achievements in art, can also be a profound thinker. What kind of thinking, what kind of work. The performers' musical thought was guiding the development of the erhu artistic behavior, which contains erhu education, composition, technique, musical style and playing method, instrumental improvement and communication in many ways. Therefore, these must be timely and comprehensively studied.The importance of the research of their thought is to summarize the essential factor which can promote the development of erhu art. Only if we obtain and review the essence of their musical thought, can the erhu art be completely enforced. Since New China was founded, the erhu art has experienced from a basic form to the prosperous development and to the New period of exploration in arts, distinguished in a great development of the sessions. Therefore, this period has a very important role in the art history. This essay stress the study of performers' musical thought, and aim to recognize the feature, inner world and art style of them and to grasp the development direction of the erhu art.In addition, to sum up and classify the New China's erhu performers' musical thought and supplement the achievements in art theory, is also a very meaningful topic.The view of subject, time and space, quality and network in national musical theory and study method of historical musicology has been used in this research.The past 60 years since the foundation of New China has been divided into three stages to classify,analysis and summarize the famous erhu performers'thought. The first stage : 1966 -1949 , after the founding of New China to the cultural revolution before ;The second stage: 1966-1978, 10 years of the cultural revolution ; The third stage : 1978 - 2008, 30 years after the reform and opening up.It is considered that, these artists have showed their thinking in music through practice, and have an strong influence on the development of art. These thought, involved in many aspects, generally can be concluded into four aspects. First, inheritance and development; Second, combination of China and western countries; Third, innovation; Fourth, the prevalence and popularization through education.With the impact of objective environment in different periods , the different ideology has been generated which lead to their own behavior, and compose the footprints in erhu development .These ideology can also promote the development of art education, composition, technique, music style, playing method, instrumental improvement , communication and make a solid foundation for the previous rational thought and perceptual cognition. Through a certain quantity of musical performers in every period, we study and sum up the distinguished erhu performers'dominantable musical thought. In this way, we can obtained the solvation of the problems in future and ensure its healthy development.In the past 60 years, with studious thinking erhu performers formed their own theory, solved many problems, practiced constantly, and made enormous contribution to the erhu art. Hence, the assiduous thinking and practicing must be needed to confront the challenge and opportunity in future development of the erhu art. This is what this essay has concluded from studying erhu performers'musical thought.The development of erhu art depends on the constant thinking which based on our predecessors, as well as diligent practice and exploration.
