Since 2005, many contemporary famous writers, such as SuTong, YeZhaoYan, LiRui , have joined into the team of restating the myth launched by Canongate publishing company, the restatement of myth caused the contemporary writers and the art critics hot debate. Can the original myth be restated and how to restate in the contemporary cultural environment become one of important issues. As the initial thinking about the primitive society for nature, society and human life, the myth include many the ultimate question. The restatement of the myth, especially the restatement of the "White snake" , are along with the entire development process.When some modern and contemporary writers are criticizing about the traditional culture, the restatements of"White snake"make much contribution to the modem and contemporary literature. The restatements of "White snake" is this thesis's research object.On the basis of closely reading about the restatement of the "White snake", the thesis makes the overall thinking.The "White snake" firstly appeared in the novel of Three towers of west lake, and basicly finalized the design in the novel of warning of the words by FengMengLong,which named"the white snake were put down by LeiFengDa". In Qing dynasty, the story in the aspects of the characters, the plot, the theme, have played more mature, for example the"Lei Feng Ta Qi Zhuan"of Yu Shan Zhu Ren, the"Lei Feng Ta Chuan Qi"of Fang Peicheng.The "White snake" contains the snake female motif and the tower motif.As the outstangding representative of the snake female image, Bai Suzhen fell in love with Xu Xian, and was finally put down by Lei Feng Ta.The restatements of the "White snake" mainly include Meng Hua Guan Zhu's"Bai She Quan Chuan"( the Republic of China), Wei Juxian's"Lei Feng Ta"(1943), Gu Yiqiao's"Bai Niangniang"(1930),Xiang Peiliang's"Bai She and Xu Xian"(1930), Zhang Henshui's"Bai She Zhuan"(1954), Tian Han's"Bai She Zhuan"(1952), Li Bihua's"Qing She"(2001), Li Rui and JiangYun's"Ren Jian——the restatement of'Bai She Zhuan'"(2007), Jiang Xun's"Wu Dong Bai She Zhuan"(2004). In the restatements of the"White Snake",we find that the writers in restating the myths by some common methods and means. In narrative perspective, the narrative perspective of the restatements about the"White Snake" gradually left storytellers's point of view more and more deeply; the restatements of the"Bai She Zhuan"thoroughly subverted the positive position,take the opposite narrative perspective repeating the story, and they analyzed the dark side of human nature by repeating the "White snake", with more deep thinking.The restatements of the "White snake" has formed the system.In the face of the restatements, modern and contemporary writers increased or decreased the plot repeating the story.They mentioned the previous texts forming more rich semantic system. Overally the features of the restatements includes elaborating, reversely descripting and new repeating , etc.The restatements of the "White snake" enriched the story system ,developt the significance of the story and completed interprete the traditional culture.At the same time,the restatements of the"White snake"provide the spiritual support for the contemporary.They make us become aware of the meaning of life.Repeating the"White snake"is very important for the image building of China.The restatements of the"White snake"reshaped the Chinese confidence, reconstructed the Chinese image, and then refuted the influence of European and American cultures.The restatements of the "White snake" also had obvious limitations.On the one hand , the missing of sacred Feelings;on the other hand,the contemporary writers are short of imagination.The writers fellow the previous plots ,ruin the effect by adding something, transplanted the story into different environment or repeated the story with first-theme.
