| In today's globalized world, English as a foreign language has become the most universal language among the non-English speaking countries. With the reform of college English teaching, the focus of teaching not only on language skills but also on culture teaching, concerning ICC, attracted more attention of both teachers and researchers. ICC focuses on not only culture knowledge but also intercultural ability, which is the ultimate goal of culture teaching. However, so far, most studies have focused more on culture knowledge (e.g., the importance of culture knowledge in reading comprehension) rather than ICC. The study of development of ICC in China is just at its beginning. And the studies concerning the development of ICC from different researchers are from different aspects (e.g., assessment of ICC, the model of ICC development), but there are few studies from combining language teaching and culture teaching. The present study has realized the combination of language teaching (in reading aspect) and culture teaching through carrying out culture experience teaching in reading classes and has cultivated the ICC of the learners. The study shows literature review and previous studies about culture teaching. The research questions are examining correlation between ICS and reading ability; differences of ICS between the experimental group and the control group; and differences of ICS of the experimental group before and after receiving training.Independent-sample test, pair-sample test and correlation analysis are employed to analyze the statistics of the questionnaire. The results of the study are as followings: Culture experience teaching can be integrated into language teaching (take reading classes as an example); Culture experience teaching can facilitate learner's ICC development; Culture experience teaching can improve learner's language skill level. Therefore the teachers should conduct culture teaching in language teaching to improve the development of ICC, because there is few cultural teaching in non-English students'classes. |
