Studies On Meihua Letters (1995-2009)

Meihua Letters started its publication 15 years ago, which played an important role in developing Meihua literature. This essay takes the literary works as a lead-in and implements the preliminary studies on the magazine in terms of its history, participants, literary types and values and defects, partially in an angle of communication and media.First of all, within 15 years Meihua Letters went through three phases in form: newspaper, magazine, internet, based on the retrospect of which its history and the basic features of each phase are systematically combed.In the next place, editors, writers and readers are the main participants in Meihua Letters, the analysis of whom can help us learn about the characteristics of each one as well as their significance to the magazine's expansion.Thirdly, there are such a variety of literary types in Meihua Letters as novel, prose, poetry, biography, commentary, documentary, illustration and advertisement, among which the first three, dubbed as "Three Wonders", eclipse others, closely followed by the characteristic biography and commentary and advantageously complemented by the last two.Finally, For 15 years Meihua Letters has made a great contribution to the spreading and prosperity of the indigenous Chinese literature of Meihua, which is embodied in its media value and literary significance. Meanwhile, its difficulties and defects need to be noted and surmounted by its counterparts.
