Concubine is not proprietary in any dynasty and were recorded. From the truthful record of concubine image in the novels before Tang dynasty, to the qualitative leap of it, then to more authentic and lively in the novel during Song, Yuan, Ming dynasty, this change make ready for the numerous appearance of concubine image in the novels during the transitional Ming and Qing dynasty.The appearance of many concubine image in the novels during the transitional period of Ming and Qing dynasty, is on the basis of below three reasons:polygamy marriage system, development of commodity economy; strongly social climate of concubinage; transmission and influence of Wang yang-ming's school of mind, expanding of demogenic sociology. Studied the novels which described concubine image in the age of transitional period of Ming and Qing dynasty, these image were classified into five types:Chastity, Intelligence, Virtue, Jealousy and Greed. The artistic characteristics of these different images, were shaped by vivid language, detailed and thoroughly psychological depiction, and the function of concubine image in novels' structure. However, typification of the images, instant karma, much of strange stories, leading to limitation of shaping the concubine images in the novels during the transitional period of Ming and Qing dynasty.The appearance of concubine image bring some contradiction between wife and concubine, also it was interesting view of Ming and Qing dynasties' family novels. Not only it increased the diversity of family life in the novels, but also expanded the couple's contradiction to one that between concubine and other family members, even to all household. This appearance play a important effect in the novels during Ming and Qing dynasty, go so far as to offer valuable experience for writing the modern novels about family and harem conflict.
