This research attempts to discuss the actual case studies of students'reading motivation and the reading activities organized by the school through the questionnaires filled out by Singapore NanHua High School.The specific purposes of this research are:(1)To find out the internal and external factors that motivates students to read, to discuss the way to affect the reading activities in a bi-lingual country and also to facilitate the teaching development of reading.(2)To discuss the elaboration of school reading activities and students'reading motivation.(3)In connection with the students'reading motivation, draw up the activities plan to exalt the result in teaching of reading.(4)In connection with the result of the research, draw up feasible suggestions.This research uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, desire to present all aspects of the teaching of reading in Singapore. For the quantitative, the method used is questionnaires set up by the Wigfield reading motivation scale (MRQ). For qualitative, based on the observation teaching of reading using case studies to present the activities of teaching of reading.The major findings of this study are:(1) Reading activities affect students'reading motivation: Choose of reading materials interactive reading activities.comprehensive reading,form of reading activities will influence student's reading motivation.(2) The variety personal backgrounds influence the reading motivation:Female's reading motivation is higer,language used at home will influence reading motivation,parent's education level above degree level reading motivation is higher.(3) Different reading habits of the family influence the reading motivation:Parent who always reading will have higher reading motivation,parent's reading type will influence student's reading motivation.According to the main findings and conclusions of this study, the suggestions to improve the reading activities are:(1)To reform the teaching of reading strategies:activate prior knowledge, verify reading strategies,use the question skill in between the reading procedure.(2)The reading material should in accordance with the students'reading interests.(3) Reading activities should be grouped according to the different level of the students (4) To monitor the students'reading activities while assess the reading activities and design the related works.(5) To diversify the reading activities...
