The Research On The Kuo Ting-yee's Modern History

Kuo ting-yee (1904-1975), born in Wuyang of Henan Province, was a distinguished historian in modern Taiwan. He received his childhood in the countryside private school education in traditional Chinese culture. In Southeast University, by Liu Yi-zheng, Luo Jia-lun and others affected, began to study modern history. After serving with the Luo Jia-lun in Tsinghua University,he began teaching career. Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Taiwan in 1955, he served as Director and Director of the Preparatory Institute of Modern History, to convert the building into a world-class academic reputation of institutions. His research areas in modern history, there are many the writings.He completed historical data of early masterpiece, Modern Chinese History and something more than history log In the early years, Such as the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Historical log, log of Modern Chinese History matters,Republic of historical events and logs. In later years he completed his masterpiece, concluding, History of Modern China.His Studies on modern Chinese history made some pioneering contributions and there is much room for more studies about him.This thesis consists of the preface, four chapters. The preface introduces the significance of this topic, the related researches and its analysis path. Chapter one opens out Kuo Ting-yee's life and discusses how the education and environment in his childhood influence his following rearsearch life, Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, his brief experience.Chapter two dissertates the historical events of his early compilation of the log and its characteristics. Chapter three discussed his leading organization in Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica from these four levels:Compilation and collation of files from Jan, the organization of oral history, focus on foreign exchanges and cooperation, personnel training and academic Passing on the heritage. Chapter four is focused on the modern history of his histories and discussed the main historical thinking in his works, also tries to analysis the character of his studying history briefly.
