| The quality of English teaching is one of the key strategies to check the teaching effects of the college. Every college spends a large amount of money and a large staff of teachers to raise their students'English studying abilities. They all expect their students could perform well at the CET 3,4,6 tests. But what worry them most are the results of their students in the Art Department. Some teachers, scholars even the experts made lots of efforts to improve the Art Department students' English studying but the ends are all not so satisfied.The art students are always labeled as bad students, because they have a lot of shortcomings in studying. Actually, many of them have a strong willing to study English well but because of many disadvantages have to face, as a result they always fail. There are many factors must be considered to enhance these students' English studying. Firstly, because of their weak English educational background as their teachers we must begin our teaching from the most basic things and treat them in a lower level. Secondly, because many of them have bad studying habits and their studying motivations are weak, teachers must deal with them strictly in daily studying and also stimulate their English interests and motivations. Thirdly, as a teacher, you must always believe your students, you must always believe they could study well, only in this way, you set a good model for them, could they believe themselves and have confidence to face all the difficulties they may meet in the future English studying. Finally, treat everyone differently, teachers should have different requirement according to their studying ability.As the author of this thesis, I work over from the theory investigations, such as the Studying Motivation, the Teaching Strategy and the Second Language Acquisition. And then go to the questionnaire survey. After the survey I will bring forward the coping strategy part, this is also the key part of my thesis. And the following part will be the experiment. The experiment will check the practicability of my strategy.The experiments show that through right psychological guidance and good teaching methods they could get the aims which are demanded on the syllabus.For college English teachers, we must not only focus on our English teaching but also pay attention to the students'psychological and emotional factors. Only in this way can we get the real goal of our teaching. |
